Alpine A390: Persiapan Melawan Porsche Macan EV

Alpine is gearing up to enter the crossover SUV market with the upcoming launch of its first high-riding vehicle, the A390. While the official debut is set for May 27, a camouflaged prototype has been spotted undergoing winter testing in Lapland.

The Alpine A390 is slightly smaller than the Porsche Macan EV, but the two will likely be compared due to their similarities. Described as a “sport fastback” rather than a crossover or SUV, the A390 features a rear deck reminiscent of a sedan and a sloping rear window.

Despite some camouflage on the prototype, key design elements such as the front lights and front aero elements are visible, giving a glimpse of what to expect from the production model. While interior details have not been fully revealed, Alpine has shown the steering wheel, a departure from the A290 hot hatch model.

The A390 will come with a higher price tag, positioning it as a more exclusive and high-performance offering compared to the A290. Sporting a tri-motor configuration and all-wheel-drive system, the A390 will offer precise torque vectoring to enhance its performance in various driving conditions.

Expected to share a platform with Nissan Ariya and Renault E-Tech electric models, the A390 will likely be more powerful with its three-motor setup. With an estimated output of 644 horsepower, the A390 is set to compete with models like the Porsche Macan Turbo in terms of acceleration and performance.

Equipped with a battery capacity matching Nissan models, the A390 is expected to offer an EPA range of 304 miles, making it a competitive option in the electric vehicle market. Alpine also has plans to introduce the A310, a four-seater sports car based on the same platform, following the retirement of its current ICE models in 2026.

With aspirations to expand globally, including entering the US market by 2027, Alpine is set to make a significant impact with its lineup of electric vehicles. The A390, along with the A310 and potentially other models, will mark Alpine’s transition to a fully electric future while maintaining its European heritage and performance legacy.
