President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his confidence in Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on schedule, positioning the country as one of the pioneers in reaching this milestone. During a video conference focusing on the inauguration of renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s efficient energy generation and efforts to reduce costly logistics chains. Energy independence is crucial in Indonesia’s vision for national sovereignty, with the government planning to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to provide clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.
Prabowo praised the collaborative efforts of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies such as Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transformation. While recognizing the country’s significant oil and gas reserves, he emphasized the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities across Indonesia. Prabowo expressed optimism for Indonesia’s future, highlighting solar energy as a source of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
