President Prabowo’s official state visit to Saudi Arabia on July 1 was met with a warm and enthusiastic welcome from Indonesian elementary school children residing in Jeddah. The children, waving Indonesian and Saudi Arabian flags, chanted “Welcome, Mr. President!” as they lined up neatly in the hotel lobby, turning the formal occasion into a vibrant and heartfelt gathering.
President Prabowo, visibly delighted by the children’s enthusiasm, took the time to individually greet each child and happily posed for photographs. Among the children, Arsad Hanfana Al-Syarabi introduced himself confidently, mentioning that his parents work at the Indonesian Embassy. The President, proud and beaming, encouraged the children to study well, receiving a resounding chorus of “Yes, Sir!” in response.
The interaction not only made a lasting impact on the children but also on the Indonesian community present at the event. Hanif Hasanuddin, a representative of Muhammadiyah’s Special Branch in Jeddah, expressed gratitude and hopes after shaking hands with President Prabowo. Senior Indonesian officials, ministers, and diplomats in attendance emphasized the significance of the President’s visit extending beyond diplomatic engagements.
President Prabowo’s visit to Saudi Arabia marked a genuine connection between the nation’s leader and its citizens abroad. For the Indonesian children in the Holy Land, the encounter served as both inspiring and uplifting. The occasion showcased the strong bond between Indonesia and its diaspora, instilling hope and pride in the hearts of all those present.
