Isaque Hattu, Chair of the Indonesian Diaspora in São Paulo, expressed his excitement in welcoming the President and his delegation on Saturday morning. As a prominent figure supporting the Indonesian community in Brazil, Hattu emphasized the strong sense of solidarity among the relatively small Indonesian diaspora, as they united in greeting their homeland’s leader. He personally introduced himself to Prabowo, highlighting their happiness in being able to join the welcoming party.
During their encounter, Hattu shared a bit about his family background with Prabowo, revealing his parents’ origins in Maluku and Kupang. The President responded warmly to Hattu’s story, even recognizing the name of Petrus Oktavianus, an Indonesian individual previously assigned to Brazil. As their conversation came to a close, Hattu conveyed his hopes for Prabowo’s leadership to enhance the relationship between Indonesia and Brazil through cultural exchanges, grassroots engagement, and promoting a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s rich heritage among Brazilians.
