President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, showed great enthusiasm for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s initiative to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. During a bilateral meeting at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília, Prabowo expressed a warm welcome to the plan, highlighting the potential to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries. He emphasized the mutual interests and vast potential for economic relations shared by Indonesia and Brazil, pointing out their large populations, natural resources, and biodiversity.
Prabowo acknowledged the need to move beyond signed agreements and transform them into tangible cooperation. He admired Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s interest in learning from Brazil’s experiences. President Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send technical teams to study Brazil’s agricultural technologies was also appreciated.
The Indonesian leader, who was in Brazil for the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, expressed gratitude for the invitation extended by President Lula for a return visit to Indonesia in October. He mentioned preparing a grand birthday celebration for Lula’s upcoming 80th birthday in Jakarta.
