The visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to attend Singapore’s National Day celebrations on August 9 left a lasting impact on Indonesian students studying in the Lion City. Meeting President Prabowo made them feel connected to their homeland, evoking a sense of being back in Indonesia. Four students from the Singapore Institute of Management, Belinda, Donata, Daniel, and Ardi, had the opportunity to interact directly with the President, which was more than just a casual encounter for them. It served as a poignant reminder of their national identity, bringing a piece of home to a foreign land.
Belinda expressed how the experience made her feel closer to home, particularly against the backdrop of Singapore’s National Day Parade and meeting Pak Prabowo. The students were grateful for the chance to meet and shake hands with President Prabowo and members of the Kabinet Merah Putih. Donata shared her happiness at meeting President Prabowo again, this time in a more intimate setting. For another student, it was a rare opportunity to meet a President in person for the first time in their life.
Overall, the students cherished the memorable moment of meeting President Prabowo in Singapore, which underscored the significance of the occasion.
