Meeting Macron-Prabowo: Strengthening Indonesia-France Ties

French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Indonesia underscores the strong and meaningful partnership between the two countries. Macron highlighted that the relationship between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism, emphasizing genuine and robust cooperation. The warm welcome extended to Macron by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta was greatly appreciated.

During his visit, Macron stressed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the significance of collaboration in various areas such as the economy, technology, security, and culture. The diplomatic ties between Indonesia and France, spanning 75 years, have seen notable progress in the last decade.

Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda. Cultural collaboration also took center stage during Macron’s visit, culminating in a cultural agreement to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing friendship between the two nations.
