Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities with them to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. Speaking at a Double Check discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office and Gempita, Isyana stressed the need for parents to continuously learn and keep up with online applications as children tend to learn faster. She pointed out that children often seek instant gratification, known as “cheap dopamine,” through social media and online games, which can lead to addiction. Isyana highlighted the significance of outdoor activities and sports in obtaining dopamine naturally and emphasized the importance of physical movement for overall well-being.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, shared about the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, which aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, learn, play, and foster creativity. Tan hopes that through RBI, children will have access to safe and creative spaces, engage in traditional games, sports, and activities, and avoid becoming addicted to gadgets. This initiative aims to create a balance in children’s lives and encourage physical activity to prevent excessive screen time and reliance on technology.
